Following the high-stakes Australia tour, Pakistan will head to Zimbabwe for a series of ODIs and T20Is from November 24 to December 5. This tour is crucial as it provides an opportunity for players to solidify their positions ahead of the Champions Trophy. With a blend of established names like Mohammad Rizwan and emerging players like Ahmed Daniyal and Qasim Akram, the squad aims to build confidence and cohesiveness in the lead-up to the ICC event. The series against Zimbabwe will be an important platform for assessing the team’s depth and adaptability in different playing conditions, as they seek to enhance their white-ball prowess before returning home for the Champions Trophy.
Pakistan ODI Squad Againest Australia
Babar Azam , Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah are set to return to the Pakistan national team for the ODI and T20I series against Australia next month after being omitted from the last two Tests against England. However, they will not participate in the subsequent ODI and T20I series in Zimbabwe.
The PCB has yet to announce the captain for the series against Australia, with Mohammad Rizwan,being a strong contender but rested for the Zimbabwe matches. , Salman Ali Agha is included in all four white-ball squads, furthering his chances.
Notably, Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq missed out on central contracts and were not selected, while Mohammad Hasnain, who excelled in the Champions One-Day Cup, has earned a place in all squads despite not having a contract. Shadab Khan has been dropped, and Sufiyan Muqeem will replace him in the T20I squads.
Mohammad Haris has fallen out of favor as a wicketkeeper, with Haseebullah Khan taking his place. Saim Ayub, despite being a known T20 power-hitter, did not make the T20I squads but is included in the ODIs.
The ODI series against Australia, starting November 4, marks Pakistan’s first since the World Cup and is crucial for their preparations ahead of the Champions Trophy in February. Following the Australia series, Pakistan will play in Zimbabwe, face South Africa, and participate in a tri-series in Multan before the Champions Trophy.
